Our volunteers are an important part of our team, providing valuable support to patients and their families. We are seeking caring, compassionate individuals looking for a way to enrich the lives of others.
We have opportunities in Meridian, Boise, Nampa, Caldwell and Mtn Home.
Hospice focuses on the physical, emotional, social and spiritual well being of people with life limiting illnesses.
We are seeking pet owners that have "certified therapy pets" to make visits with our hospice clients and their families. Animals bring a great amount of joy and comfort to most of us. I have been witness to the joy animals bring to others. It is a beautiful experience to see that comforting smile or hear someone recall their pets from long ago. Sometimes a pet can bring forth words from someone who rarely speaks at all. Pets can be any animal that is certified. We currently have a certified dog/handler team and a certified mini-horse/handler team, they are always in demand and can not visit as much as our clients would like.
What is required? Be at least 18 years of age, background check, drug screen and a TB test. An application form, and a few hours of training. All provided by abode Hospice. As your volunteer coordinator I work hard to match volunteers with a good fit, am here to support your experience and provide ongoing education.
Feel free to contact me with any questions or start the process of becoming a Hospice Volunteer! We can meet here at the office or I can meet you elsewhere.
