Room for rent in a quite neighborhood near Locust Grove and Victory in Meridian. We're 5-10 minutes sound of the Winco off the Meridian exit and about the same to the freeway access on Eagle.
The house is about 2500 square feet with 4 bedrooms and a den. Behind the house is a nice park and the home's patio overlooks this park. The neighborhood has a walking path that runs throughout it, and it's generally quite walkable and pleasant.
The room is 14'x10' with a 8'x2' closet and is fully-furnished. We aren't desperate on a timeline and can flex as needed for the right roommate. The bed is a queen, the TV is 65" and the closet is 8'x2'. We put mini fridges in this and other bedrooms to make sharing a fridge in the kitchen easier. This room is one of two bedrooms at the end of the upstairs hallway, with a bathroom in between that is shared with the other renter. Laundry is in the room between yours and the master bedroom, driveway has room for off-street parking, and we have shelves in the garage if you have need of space for things you don't want in your room - if you have questions, please ask.
The other occupants are a 30-something professional who owns the home, a 60-something retiree who rents the room across the hall, and the owner's golden retriever. The owner works remotely from the downstairs den and when he's not working enjoys exercise, hiking & visiting his family nearby. The retiree is friendly but rarely seen, he wakes up before dawn, takes a long walk until around lunchtime and then either reads & watches TV in his room or visits his granddaughter and is out hard by about 8pm. The golden retriever is very friendly and is usually either wherever the owner is or in his crate (his favorite), he'll greet you often & loves pets but you won't be responsible for him outside making sure you don't leave him outside & knowing how to call the vet if there's an emergency for him.
The general vibe of the house is clean, quiet & peaceful, we try to be mindful of chaos & interruptions to one-another as best we can and are usually winding down by about 10 on weeknights. We have some basic house rules like not leaving messes in the kitchen when we aren't there, not running the laundry after a given time eg 10pm unless it's an emergency, stuff like that. There's street parking in front of the house and some shelves in the garage for storage if you need it.
Rent is $875 and utilities are $75 a month (owner will check every 3 months and refund/request difference from actual utility bills). We're open to a longer arrangement after a bit to see how it goes. To move in we require the first and last month's rent as well as a $100 security deposit - so $1850 in total. If you have any questions here, please ask.
What we are and are not looking for: We would prefer a roommate who keeps a regular schedule and doesn't work night shifts. We are not open to renting to those with a criminal past, not out of personal judgement but because the retiree occasionally has his granddaughter over and we don't want any risk of backlash from disputes between her parents - we hope you understand. We will run a background check too as part of our process, so please don't fail to mention anything we'd want to know. We haven't had a female roommate before but are open to it if the fit is right and would make any adjustments required to a woman occupant feel safe and comfortable. We aren't open to renting to couples or families, just one occupant - an exception could be made for a dog if your dog (1) gets along well with the owner's dog, (2) doesn't bark a lot, and (3) is not a property or safety risk, so if you have a dog we'd take some time to feel it out. In short, we're seeking someone who can pay rent on time, has a stable life & schedule that won't be too chaotic to adjust to, has a clean record, and can keep our public areas clean. Bonus points if you like dogs & are up for occasionally watching a movie or TV show.
If interested, please include in your email some info about you: who you are, what you're up to, what you're looking for & what you're not, etc. It'd be useful to know what your thermostat preferences are, your typical sleep schedule, and what your week usually looks like. If you have any special requests or needs to share, please do, we want to be respectful & considerate.
Historically move-ins are on or around the first of the month but the room is vacant so we’d be up for filling it mid-month if it makes sense. If this occurs rent is pro-rated for the partial month.
If you have any questions please ask. Thank you for your interest!
