This listing is for a set of two (2) beautiful, framed, large ORIGINAL OIL PAINTINGS on canvas by the Idaho artist Michael O'Loughlin, who unfortunately is now deceased. These are both from a series that the artist did depicting Native American Army Scouts in war. It is our understanding that Michael O'Loughlin originally planned for there to be four pieces in the series. To our knowledge, only three pieces were executed - and we have two of them (the two that are for sale in this listing). We are selling them as a set, as we do not feel they should be separated. Both of these pieces were done with extreme care to detail, as can be seen upon close inspection.
The first one depicts an 1873 Native American Scout, & is entitled "Kiowa Warrior, US Army Scout 1880". It is signed by the artist. Overall framed size of this piece is about 30 3/4" x 42 3/4". We apologize that our camera did not capture the colors in this piece, nor the other, as vividly as we would have liked. Please see the first picture of each of the paintings for the most accurate depiction of the colors in these beautiful pieces. You will note that the framing is not shown in these photos; that is because we copied them off the internet. We only did this because these copies show the real colors more accurately than our photos. The other photos of each of the paintings does show the framing that is on them.
The second piece is entitled "Blackfoot Warrior: Mad Dog Society, U.S. Army Scout", and shows a WWII Scout. Again, please look closely to see the detail that Mr. O'Loughlin incorporated into his work. Overall framed size of this piece is about 33" x 45". As a note, this oil painting was copied as a limited-edition lithograph.
These original oil paintings are from a smoke-free home, & are in "mint" condition. Both are framed, so you would not have the expense of framing in addition to the cost of the pieces, unless you wanted to change the framing. We feel that they were both framed in such a way as to accentuate the artwork; the frames are modest yet help the pieces to look "finished". If you are interested in BOTH original oil paintings, please contact us by responding to this listing via email so that we may schedule an appointment for you to come see the paintings in person. We live in Boise, Idaho, near the Depot.
