Host families are urgently needed for foreign exchange students. They may come from Germany, France, Switzerland and South Korea and are eager to share their culture with us and learn about life in America. Foreign students are looking to become part of your family for one semester during 2010, or full academic school year of 2010-2011, while they attend a local high school. Host families provide room and board for the exchange student. The student pays for all other expenses with his or her own pocket money. The family can deduct $50 per month, as a charitable contribution, for income tax purposes during the time that the student is in their home. Students come prepared to live by the host family rules and to adapt to their lifestyles. Most of our host families are busy families, but this provides an interesting environment for our students.

The TrialNet Natural History Study is being conducted to learn what causes type 1-diabetes and how to prevent it from developing. For reasons unknown, our immune systems will launch an attack on the insulin producing cells in our pancreas. Byproducts of this attack are cells called autoantibodies. These are cells that tell us our immune system has gone awry.

Here�s where you can help:

If you are a close relative of a person with type 1-diabetes enroll in the TrialNet Natural History Study and help research understand the disease process to help lead to a prevention. It�s only through research that these answers will be found.

There are three phases to this clinical trial:

� The first is the natural history study. This is for the close relatives of a type 1-diabetes person. This phase involves a blood draw from your arm that will be tested for the autoantibodies and information about your relative�s type 1-diabetes history will be gathered.

� The second is the base-line risk assessment. If you test positive for the autoantibodies, your blood sugar and insulin levels will be closely monitored to estimate the chances of type 1-diabetes developing within the next five years.

� The third is the follow-Up Risk Assessment. This phase involves a continuation of the testing in the base-line assessment arm. The purpose of this study is to monitor the development of the disease and gather clinical information.

Who can participate in the study?

� People aged 1 to 45 and have a brother, sister, child, or parent with type 1 diabetes,

� People aged 1 to 20 and have a cousin, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, half-sibling, or Grandparent with type 1-diabetes.

Looking for Pre-term Labor Options?

There is a clinical research study now enrolling women who are currently pregnant and have had a prior preterm delivery.

You may qualify for this research study if you:
� Have had a previous single-baby preterm delivery
� Are currently pregnant and expecting one baby
� Are less than 20 weeks pregnant
� Are at least 18 years old

The purpose of this research study is to determine if weekly injections of an investigational study drug reduce the rate of early delivery. This research will also determine if the study drug improves the health of the newborn baby

The study drug will be compared to placebo, which is an injection that is like the study drug, but does not contain active study medication. Depending upon how long you have been pregnant when you enter this research study, participation may last for approximately 20 weeks.

Volunteers are indispensable in helping families cope. In some cases, patients are more comfortable speaking about dying with a volunteer trained to listen than to their own families.

We are okay on food because I am a full time college student and on food stamps, but I have nothing for gifts for them. Intercambio Boise is a new organization that is forming to provide English language instruction taught by volunteers to adult immigrants, including refugees, in Boise. The program also organizes intercultural events that build community and create opportunities for friendships between students and volunteers. We conducted an assessment of existing English classes and found a HUGE need for the program.

Intercambio's model offers individual and small group classes taught in students' homes or community centers. This model tackles the two largest barriers, childcare and transportation, that prevent immigrants from attending existing classes in Boise. The model also allows immigrants and volunteers to form positive relationships and enrich our community with greater intercultural awareness. In the long run, Intercambio Boise will allow immigrants to acquire the improved English skills to become more self-sufficient, thereby reducing the burden on local community services.

Intercambio Boise will be a chapter of Intercambio de Comunidades, a very successful organization that started in Boulder, Colorado (www.intercambioweb.org). We have started a pilot project in Boise. It has take off in its first three months. We have 25 active volunteers and over 30 students. There is a waiting list of at least 40 more potential students.

We are looking for volunteers who want to teach and have fun meeting people from other cultures. There is a 5-hour required training. The training provides a great foundation for volunteers to begin teaching English. No previous teaching experience or foreign language is needed. Intercambio makes it very easy for volunteers to teach by providing student and teacher books that are adapted to the particular needs of adult English students. Volunteers are asked to teach at least once a week for 2 hours for a minimum of 4 months. This allows continuity for both students and teachers.

If you have gout, you may be eligible to participate in the RE-SURGE study, evaluating an investigational medicine for preventing acute gout flares in select patients.

Researchers are interested in determining the safety and effectiveness of the investigational medicine when used in combination with commonly used FDA-approved medicines for gout treatment.

To be considered for participation in the RE-SURGE study, you must:
� Be 18-80 years of age.
� Have a history of gout and are at risk of gout flare,
� Be able to or are already receiving treatment with
allopurinol, AND
� Not currently be experiencing a gout flare.

Back in 2002 I made a decision to return to school as a single mother, I attended Everest College in Phoenix and received my Associates degree as a Paralegal, I then headed off to Ottawa University where I completed a double major in Management and Human Resources receiving my Bachelors degree in October 2006. I immediately returned to school again with Ottawa University to complete my Masters Degree in Human Resource Administration. I am set to graduate in April of 2010 and have a mountain of student loan debt staring me in the face. I am reaching out to everyone possible with a quest to get this paid off.
Attending school as an adult has proved to be one of the most rewarding experiences ever in my life and I am glad I made the decision to better my life and set an example for my 12 year old son.

To the ignorant poster on Nov. 5th.

Just because there are two companies that may possess the same name, that does not mean that they are in any way connected. I happen to know that the business MANA youth services, located in Middleton, is not part of a Hawaiian Airline Company, which has multiple planes as part of the airline business owned and operated by someone completly different. Furthermore, I happen to know that the services which MANA is offering to youth is second to none in relation to assisting youth in learning that there is a better way to live than the perpetual cycle of criminal activity that they may have been exposed to as part of their life experiences. I congradulate the critic on his or her ability to type MANA into some search engine to find multiple Hawaiian companies which possess MANA in their title, but I would provide this reprimand, don't post false connections that would hurt a non-profit agency just because you cannot differentiate between ownership of two completly seperate companies.

I would encourage all individuals who read this, disregard the false connections posted on Nov. 5th by some undiscerning individual, and please volunteer for MANA's fundraiser to help the youth of Idaho learn a better way to live than the recidivistic cycle which criminality usually brings. If you do not believe this post, please do your own investigation into MANA youth services; you will find that the only connection they have to another company is to a Utah company which MANA has modeled their youth interventions after because of the Utah company's success in turning youth lives around. MANA considers the Utah company to be their "sister" company due the fact that they are modeled after the company, and the owners of both of these companies are related. The model and familial relationship is where the connection ends.

Further questions should be directed toward MANA services directly. I am not involved with MANA other than to say that I know the individuals who own MANA youth services.
