Helping the river and our environment by trash removal and recycling is great fun for children, couples and a good way to meet others.
Each summer we help stranded Boise River floaters by providing raft patches, air pumps, and a secondary method to get off the river when necessary. We have the boats and gear to help these people out.
We need more volunteers, to help in so many ways from posting flyers, trying to find donations of supplies, time and funding.

Social and recreation activities for the orphans of "Rodopski pansion" in
Plovdiv, Bulgaria
Motivated volunteers from different countries will organize variety of activities for the children and the youngsters in order to optimize their free time during the summer holidays. This will include sports events, gardening, group games, thematic workshops, walks in the city of Plovdiv, visits to different sights and events, etc. Some maintenance and domestic works will be done together with the residents.
The workcamp project will take place in Social home for high-school students in Plovdiv. The Home is situated on the bank of Maritza river, in the second largest Bulgarian town. This is one of the biggest social establishments in the country providing home and care for more than 140 young people at the age of 6 to 16 years. The socially disadvantaged background of most of the children is considered to be the reason for many problems, which they face in school, in their contacts with other people, in their everyday life. The interaction with other young people from different countries, while working, playing, learning together in the frame of an international volunteer project is essential for their socialization and adaptation.

The project is a part of a summer social program run by CADIP in the orphanage in Plovdiv. Depending on the availability of free places, a volunteer may take part in more than one project. Keep in mind that a short-term volunteer workcamp is a very dynamic and emotionally intense experience and requires higher personal commitment, somehow comparable to that in middle or long-term volunteering.
Plovdiv is the second largest Bulgarian city, crossroad of different cultures with more than 6000 years history. Ruins from Thracian and Roman times can be seen along with the architectural reserve “Old Plovdiv” and many other sites of historical importance. With the help of international volunteers they would like to provide social and recreational summer day camp program for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ages 10-15 years. The children are quite high functioning in certain areas, but often struggle with social skills and the mastery of appropriate communication and behaviour. The project will include one week intensive training of the volunteers followed by the 2-week day camp with the kids. The volunteers will learn about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and how to support these children in a social/recreational program. Under the direction of the campleader, the volunteers will support the children to participate in small group activities such as planning and performing skits which explore daily life with ASD, preparing lunch meals, exploring the community on daily outings including local lakes, rivers, beaches and farms, etc. The group work is intended to provide children with specific tasks and encourage both appropriate social and communication skills. Volunteers will also help to create a handbook about summer activities for youth in the Comox Valley drawing on the experiences of the workcamp. The volunteers involved in this project will gain valuable insight into the world of autism. Requirements: Volunteers need to be fluent in English. They are required to provide a clear criminal record check. Age requirements: 19-30 years

Guardian Hospice is accepting new applications for July.
Hospice is a program that supports the recognition of death as the final stage of life. Hospice provides comfort care that focuses on the emotional, physical, and spiritual services to our patients and families with a terminal illness.
As a volunteer, you will play an important role within our hospice team to help provide support to the patient and family. There are many ways a hospice volunteer contributes to the effectiveness of the hospice team:
~Provide friendly conversation and companionship
~Assist with shopping or other errands
~Relieve the caregiver for short periods of time
~Read to or play games with the patient
~Help with meals or light housework
Now days, most people are quite busy with families, work, school, church and other activities. Some have more time to give than others. Guardian Hospice encourages you to donate any time you have, whether it is 2 hours per month or twenty hours a week.
In order to accommodate all involved, volunteers will be matched with patients most suited to their time commitment, location and personality.
A 1-2 hour training session will be provided, and additional training will be provided as needed. Background and reference checks will be done.

The SOS Children's Village is situated in the centre of Viet Tri City, the capital of Phu Tho Province. There are now about 168 orphans living in 15 family houses under the care of the village mothers and staff.
The orphans come from 5 different provinces in the north of Vietnam.
Volunteers will spend time with the children and help improving their English, organizing games and other activities for them. They will also help redecorating the houses and classrooms, planting vegetable, cleaning the area. International group of volunteers will also join the families to get closer to the children’s life and try to build up wider horizon for the children and encourage them to learn better for brighter future.
To be considered for participation in the RE-SURGE study, you must:
- Be 18-80 years of age
-Have a history of gout and are at risk of gout flare
-Be able to or are already receiving treatment with urate-lowering therapy (such as allopurinol), AND
-Not currently be experiencing a gout flare.
The investigator will work with you to determine whether you qualify for the study, using a more comprehensive list of criteria.

Mysore is a city in the state of Karnataka in Southern India. It was the erstwhile capital of the Wodeyar dynasty and is considered the cultural capital of the state. The city has recorded history dating back a thousand years and a mythical history which explains the origin of the name - apparently, this was the place where the demon Mahishasura was slain by the Goddess Chamundi. You will find a statue of the demon on Chamundi hill which commemorates this event.
In this project the volunteers will work with different organizations involved in the development of the underprivileged. The slum reality is a big issue in the entire country. The aim is to spread awareness among the people and to give them more instruments to feel confident and free to decide for their future, and for the future of a new generation. The mission of this project is to: • Organize a multi-purpose project to involve the community and sensitize the local people about the Health & Hygiene problems.
• Educate the children to build a better and more conscious society.
• Spread awareness on Women rights issues and social welfare;
• Environmental issues.
• Working with other NGOs in community service projects.
The schedule and the focus of the project will be adapted to the season, the possibilities and the needs of the moment, to improve the achievements in a long-term view.

Neskaupstaður is a medium sized town by Icelandic standards, has the largest population (1420 inh.) of any of the towns in the East Fjords, is almost completely self-sufficient and has grown and prospered since the early 1900's, thanks to the fishing industry. Its remoteness has led to a necessary self-sufficiency, including the town having its own bakery, dairy, supermarkets, banks, post office, school, sports hall, swimming pool, church, hospital, harbour, airstrip, hotel, jazz club, rescue centre, etc. In fact, it seems to have all the services you would expect in a larger town except an optician! To the east of the town, facing the ocean, there is a nature reserve and recreational area. The lower section of it, called Hagi, is the location of the renowned Páskahellir (Easter Cave), which is essentially a rock vault over the shore. Holes left by thick, 10-12-million-year-old tree trunks may be seen inside the vault and, as is typical in Iceland, there are various folk tales associated with the cave. Neskaupstaður is only reachable after driving through a one-way tunnel.
“Fjarðabyggð” is an association of different communities in the Eastfjords of Iceland. It includes the towns of Eskifjörður, Fáskrúðsfjörður, Mjóifjörður, Neskaupstaður, Reyðarfjörður and Stöðvarfjörður. The towns have a lot of things in common: They are all small fishing villages with steep mountains just behind the houses. In this area you will find most of the things that make Iceland a unique place on a global scale. The fjords are magnificent and the sea is full of life, the birdlife is very rich and you can find a great variety of hiking paths. You will get to know the area during your stay in the east and it depends on the tasks and the situation in Fjarðabyggð where you will be working during the project.
Most of the work will be cleaning and beautifying the town and its surrounding area. We will also clean up the coastline, plant some trees, weed and build hiking paths. Another task might also be to help getting a community center in the neighbor village into a better shape for the following volunteer groups arriving later this summer and staying at this place. The work available will depend on the weather conditions and that’s why we have to be a bit flexible. Please keep in mind that the work might be physically hard and you should be prepared for unfriendly weather, even though it will be nice most of the time, hopefully.

Situated on the west coast (Arabian Sea), lies this small touristic state of India. Goa was the former Portuguese colony in India. It is one of India's most cherished and prominent places for travelers since many years for its remarkable palm-fringed beaches; a travelers paradise.
Groups of international volunteers along with a local group of specialists have been part of an awareness program all throughout the state for several years. This year again a volunteer project will be conducted but with a different theme.
In the first week of the project, the volunteers will be visiting the schools and rural settlements of the region to present the importance of health and hygiene awareness and the need of education among the adults and the children. The volunteers need to be very creative in designing the exclusive orientation for the people of this region. Volunteers who participate in this project need to bring materials and ideas for the program, after which the whole group will settle on a plan of action decided by the team.
The place where volunteers will work is the largest slum in Goa, where most of the inhabitants are migrants and whose children do not have access to basic education. The international volunteer project aims to provide basic education to these children. The program will be mainly in schools/orphanages where the management will invite the parents and the surrounding villagers to visit and absorb the message given out through the presentations and plays.
