Helping the river and our environment by trash removal and recycling is great fun for children, couples and a good way to meet others.

Each summer we help stranded Boise River floaters by providing raft patches, air pumps, and a secondary method to get off the river when necessary. We have the boats and gear to help these people out.

We need more volunteers, to help in so many ways from posting flyers, trying to find donations of supplies, time and funding.

More sponsors and ideas are always welcome.

Donated gear such as pumps, patch kits, rafts and boats, first aid supplies and items to auction are always helpful..

The Boise River Volunteers also provides opportunities for the disabled to raft the river which becomes a rewarding experience when sharing the fun with people that need a helping hand.

The interaction with other young people from different countries, while working, playing, learning together in the frame of an international volunteer project is essential for their socialization and adaptation.

Dates of the project:
July 5 - July 18, 2009
July 19 - August 1, 2009
August 2 - August 15, 2009
August 16 - August 29, 2009

The project is a part of a summer social program run by CADIP in the orphanage in Plovdiv. Depending on the availability of free places, a volunteer may take part in more than one project. Keep in mind that a short-term volunteer workcamp is a very dynamic and emotionally intense experience and requires higher personal commitment, somehow comparable to that in middle or long-term volunteering.

Detailed information about the project with pictures you can find on: www.cadip.org/plovdiv.htm

Plovdiv is the second largest Bulgarian city, crossroad of different cultures with more than 6000 years history. Ruins from Thracian and Roman times can be seen along with the architectural reserve “Old Plovdiv” and many other sites of historical importance. Volunteers can explore the city and attend the number of cultural and sports events taking place there every summer.

Type 1-Diabetes:
Help us find out how it happens. Help us prevent it.

The TrialNet Natural History Study is being conducted to learn what causes type 1-diabetes and how to prevent it from developing. For reasons unknown, our immune systems will launch an attack on the insulin producing cells in our pancreas. Byproducts of this attack are cells called autoantibodies. These are cells that tell us our immune system has gone awry.

Here’s where you can help:

If you are a close relative of a person with type 1-diabetes enroll in the TrialNet Natural History Study and help research understand the disease process to help lead to a prevention. It’s only through research that these answers will be found.

There are three phases to this clinical trial:

• The first is the natural history study. This is for the close relatives of a type 1-diabetes person. This phase involves a blood draw from your arm that will be tested for the autoantibodies and information about your relative’s type 1-diabetes history will be gathered.

• The second is the base-line risk assessment. If you test positive for the autoantibodies, your blood sugar and insulin levels will be closely monitored to estimate the chances of type 1-diabetes developing within the next five years.

• The third is the follow-Up Risk Assessment. This phase involves a continuation of the testing in the base-line assessment arm. The purpose of this study is to monitor the development of the disease and gather clinical information.

Who can participate in the study?

• People aged 1 to 45 and have a brother, sister, child, or parent with type 1 diabetes,

• People aged 1 to 20 and have a cousin, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew, half-sibling, or Grandparent with type 1-diabetes.

Volunteers to Provide Companionship to our Patients
Ready to Make a Difference?

Giving your time doesn't cost a thing, but the results are priceless! Our volunteers are deeply appreciated and the work they do is remarkable. Please consider donating your time.

Guardian Hospice is accepting new applications for July.

Hospice is a program that supports the recognition of death as the final stage of life. Hospice provides comfort care that focuses on the emotional, physical, and spiritual services to our patients and families with a terminal illness.

As a volunteer, you will play an important role within our hospice team to help provide support to the patient and family. There are many ways a hospice volunteer contributes to the effectiveness of the hospice team:

~Provide friendly conversation and companionship
~Assist with shopping or other errands
~Relieve the caregiver for short periods of time
~Read to or play games with the patient
~Help with meals or light housework

Now days, most people are quite busy with families, work, school, church and other activities. Some have more time to give than others. Guardian Hospice encourages you to donate any time you have, whether it is 2 hours per month or twenty hours a week.

In order to accommodate all involved, volunteers will be matched with patients most suited to their time commitment, location and personality.

A 1-2 hour training session will be provided, and additional training will be provided as needed. Background and reference checks will be done.

Please consider giving to our mission just a few hours per month. Volunteering changes lives, and I am sure yours will be touched as well. I look forward to working with you.

Want to have fun, teach English, and build community? You can be a volunteer English teacher and make a real impact on the lives of immigrants.
I am starting a new English as a Second Language (ESL) program in Boise and Nampa. It will serve a huge need for English teachers and cultural exchange in our community.

If you are fun and appreciate other cultures, you would be a great volunteer. No previous teaching experience required. We provide a 6-hour training and all materials for volunteers.
Volunteers can either teach group classes at a number of public facilities around Boise and Nampa or become one-on-one tutors in student homes. Volunteers can be matched with students for home classes at any times that work for the volunteer and student.
Did I tell you the best part of this program? We will also offer intercultural events, such as sports activities and music and dancing parties. These activities expand the opportunity for volunteers and students to practice their language skills and develop friendships.

My name is Christina McAlpin. If you are interested in volunteering, please email me at: christinamcalpin@yahoo.com.

Volunteers will be THE force that gets this program off the ground. Be one of the first people who help makes this happen in our community!

Caring Host Families Wanted for 2009-2010 School Year! Host a student and Study Abroad for Free!

Forte International Exchange Association (FIEA) is a State-Department recognized student exchange program based in Washington, DC. Since 2000, we have brought nearly 2000 international students to the US to study in public schools and experience American life and culture. Every year, FIEA brings foreign high school students and loving host families together to embark on an exciting cross-cultural journey. This year we will also be bringing US students to China as well in order to reciprocate the experience!

FIEA is currently looking for caring families to host students starting in Fall 2009. These students are selected for our program based on high academic achievement, strong English abilities, and interest in American culture. Host families are eligible for a modest $50/month tax deduction and the Free Trip, but the real rewards are intangible: exposing your family to another culture, sharing your home and family life with a visitor from abroad, and making a personal investment in global cooperation and understanding.

The Free trip to China will include: Free airfare to China, free accommodations and travel within China, a weekend stay with a Chinese host family and free admission to all attractions. The family will only be responsible only for an application fee and discounted flight ticket. Visits will include trips to Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, Beijing Olympic sites and many more. We will also be able to offer the student the chance to visit and stay with their exchange student's family in China as well!

Please visit our website for more information: www.orgsites.com/dc/forte or email Kate at kate@forteintl.com directly.

All interested families please contact us! Don’t miss this great opportunity!

Type I Diabetes (Boise)

The city has recorded history dating back a thousand years and a mythical history which explains the origin of the name - apparently, this was the place where the demon Mahishasura was slain by the Goddess Chamundi. You will find a statue of the demon on Chamundi hill which commemorates this event.

The aim is to spread awareness among the people and to give them more instruments to feel confident and free to decide for their future, and for the future of a new generation. The mission of this project is to:
• Organize a multi-purpose project to involve the community and sensitize the local people about the Health & Hygiene problems.
• Educate the children to build a better and more conscious society.
• Spread awareness on Women rights issues and social welfare;

Beautifying towns and coastline areas in the Eastfjords of Iceland
    June 1 - June 15, 2009
June 18 - July 2, 2009
July 23 - August 6, 2009

Neskaupstaður is a medium sized town by Icelandic standards, has the largest population (1420 inh.) of any of the towns in the East Fjords, is almost completely self-sufficient and has grown and prospered since the early 1900's, thanks to the fishing industry. Its remoteness has led to a necessary self-sufficiency, including the town having its own bakery, dairy, supermarkets, banks, post office, school, sports hall, swimming pool, church, hospital, harbour, airstrip, hotel, jazz club, rescue centre, etc. In fact, it seems to have all the services you would expect in a larger town except an optician! To the east of the town, facing the ocean, there is a nature reserve and recreational area. The lower section of it, called Hagi, is the location of the renowned Páskahellir (Easter Cave), which is essentially a rock vault over the shore. Holes left by thick, 10-12-million-year-old tree trunks may be seen inside the vault and, as is typical in Iceland, there are various folk tales associated with the cave. Neskaupstaður is only reachable after driving through a one-way tunnel.
“Fjarðabyggð” is an association of different communities in the Eastfjords of Iceland. It includes the towns of Eskifjörður, Fáskrúðsfjörður, Mjóifjörður, Neskaupstaður, Reyðarfjörður and Stöðvarfjörður. The towns have a lot of things in common: They are all small fishing villages with steep mountains just behind the houses. In this area you will find most of the things that make Iceland a unique place on a global scale. The fjords are magnificent and the sea is full of life, the birdlife is very rich and you can find a great variety of hiking paths. You will get to know the area during your stay in the east and it depends on the tasks and the situation in Fjarðabyggð where you will be working during the project.
Most of the work will be cleaning and beautifying the town and its surrounding area. We will also clean up the coastline, plant some trees, weed and build hiking paths. Another task might also be to help getting a community center in the neighbor village into a better shape for the following volunteer groups arriving later this summer and staying at this place.
The work available will depend on the weather conditions and that’s why we have to be a bit flexible. Please keep in mind that the work might be physically hard and you should be prepared for unfriendly weather, even though it will be nice most of the time, hopefully.

Situated on the west coast (Arabian Sea), lies this small touristic state of India. Goa was the former Portuguese colony in India. It is one of India's most cherished and prominent places for travelers since many years for its remarkable palm-fringed beaches; a travelers paradise.
Groups of international volunteers along with a local group of specialists have been part of an awareness program all throughout the state for several years. This year again a volunteer project will be conducted but with a different theme.

In the first week of the project, the volunteers will be visiting the schools and rural settlements of the region to present the importance of health and hygiene awareness and the need of education among the adults and the children. The volunteers need to be very creative in designing the exclusive orientation for the people of this region. Volunteers who participate in this project need to bring materials and ideas for the program, after which the whole group will settle on a plan of action decided by the team.
The place where volunteers will work is the largest slum in Goa, where most of the inhabitants are migrants and whose children do not have access to basic education. The international volunteer project aims to provide basic education to these children. The program will be mainly in schools/orphanages where the management will invite the parents and the surrounding villagers to visit and absorb the message given out through the presentations and plays.

My name is Alexander and I work for a mortgage company called Summit Mortgage. My company now has programs that can help people like yourself afford there monthly payment on there mortgage. This program helps people in these hard times.
The programs that we have will ..... 1 lower your monthly payments.... 2 keep you in your house.... 3 live a better life knowing your in good hands. These programs are not for a refi on your current mortgage, but more of a loan modification program. The modification will change your existing loan without qualifying for a new mortgage or a refinance.
Your successful modification could include any of the following:
#1 Reduction in monthly payments
#2 Reduction in intrest rate
#3 Reduction in loan balance
#4 Extended loan term (longer loan time)
#5 Reduced payoff (short) so you can refinace
#6 Short sale price (so you can sell your home)

Your credit history or score typically doesn't make a difference in the modification. In fact, AFTER your modification is complete, your late payments are typically reset to zero, and your credit may go up significantly!!!

We are different from the other modification companies, we don't ask for any money up front to get you started.

This is risk free-100% guaranteed, if you don't get your loan modified, you don't pay a dime.

This program is made to help people that have the following problems.

#1 Struggling to make your mortgage payments
#2 Your adjustable rate mortgage has increased on rate and monthly payments
#3 You are in pre foreclose or foreclosed home
#4 You have tryed to refinace and can't
#5 You have experienced a hardship such as jod loss, income reduction, death in the family,or medical issues

So if your needing more information about this program call me today:
