I just announced that I was running for Idaho State Representative in District 12 B e.g. Nampa, Idaho. I am new to the area and was running against a very popular Mayor, Tom Dale, so I only received 2.8 percent of the vote.
A well known newspaper editor came out with an opinion (with my name in it) in the following Sundays paper saying that people that don't get at least 5% of the vote should (by law) never be allowed to run again. She reiterated the fact that I only received 2.8%. GO FIGURE!

Many times the media already has a candidate picked before anyone runs against them.
Do you think Maybe the media wants' to run the government? My take on media pertaining to elections: Many newspaper editors and editorial boards have became self proclaimed political experts. Instead of getting real political experts opinion and endorsing candidates from those opinions, they take it upon themselves to sway public opinion. Instead of taking public opinion polls and adding that to the mix, many times they ignore the public.

Upon hearing of the shootings in Texas the other day I watched the news for three hours. My father sent me an email of President Obamas speech as well.
Firstly, I am not really a fan of the Today's Show, and watching what they had to say made me less likely to ever b one. Already the media is going to turn this horrible shooter into some poor picked on guy, when honestly, he HAD NO RIGHT DOING WHAT HE DID! Rumors of him being picked on for being a Muslim. Well Christians are picked on EVERYDAY. Gays are pickd on EVERYDAY. And how many do see of them shooting up people? Everyone gets picked. Its Life. How old was this man? Was a he a little child to be swayed by his classmates tauntings..the few that did happen to maybe joke a little.
Here are the facts people:
He was Opposed to the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, and was soon to be deployed over there.
Soldiers heard him yelling Allahu Akbar-God is Greatest.
He was not randomly shooting, or even shooting particular people. He was methodically trying to shoot every person in the room!

And as for Obamas speech. For all you who made fun of Bush...I hope you're happy. Bush at least cared. He spoke from the heart, while Obama uhsssss his way through a half-hearted speech, spending the first few minutes thanking people, cracking jokes, and doing shoutouts.

Its ridiculous.

My prayers go out to those wounded, and the families of the dead.

IDAHO CITIZENS: This is 2009 and 2010 is coming upon us fast. The time for Idaho reform is now. We need to be progressive pertaining to better transportation in our capital area by having bus rapid transit lanes from Caldwell to Boise. Any municipality with more than 50,000 residents needs six council persons, Four in council districts ,two at large, and we need all government meeting televised on cable. We need civil unions for LGBT people so that they can have proper legal protection under the law. We need anti -discrimination laws and ordinances statewide modeled after "The Matthew Shepard Act" and Michigan's version of the Elliot- Larsen Act of 1964 that includes LGBT people. We need a new jail in Canyon County and we needed it yesterday. It was only going to cost an average of $30.00 per year for the average property owner and voters turned it. This issue will be on the ballot again and we need it passed in order to get criminals off of our streets. To those of you that voted for me in the Nampa Mayoral Race I want to say thank you.
„«	The War in Iraq
„«	September 11, 2001
„«	Swine Flu vaccines
„«	The Patriot Act
„«	The Budget Deficit
„«	Collapse of the American Dollar
„«	Government Bailouts
„«	The Federal Reserve
„«	Etc¡K
If not, then we encourage you to help us start a group/club/activist group that seeks to inform the public about the TRUTH, about what is really going on behind closed doors. We will also engage in research, further educating ourselves and each other about what everyone should be worried about. Some of the goals we will strive to achieve:
„«	Shift the focus from material attachment to activism.
„«	Help people wake up to the fact that money is a form of power, and only creates an artificial hierarchal system, of which the ordinary citizen is at the bottom.
„«	Realize that our government is not immune to corruption, will lie to the populace, and WILL push their elitist agendas.
There is a strong need for a local group in the Treasure Valley that challenges commonly held beliefs, help us get a group started. If you are at all interested, please contact us.

Every argument I have herd agenst Health care Reform jest shows how fickle peaple can be to change, I have not seen any good resone why the goverment should not run health care, The only resone any one should be agents health care reform is if you want to protect the insurance companys,(how really dosnt care for your well being, they jest want your money becouse they are a business). Any one with half a brain could tell you no system is flawless but some systems are better than others, and all Health care Reform is really doing is moveing the bill from the us to the goverment, how pays it with extra taxes. And if you wander how that would work during a recesson well look a Britan after WW2, Citys where completly destroyed and they made it work. As Americans we have fallen behinde Europe in Our helth care system and our Education system. If we want to stay a strong and competive country we need to catch up.

Health care reform would also make american labor cheeper and bring jobs back to the U.S, It would also would help many peaple from going bankruped( 62% of bankrupsy are linked to health costs), And jest think next time you go to the ER, whats the first thing they ask you, Do you have insurence? You ever notice a doctor always gos with the cheeper procedure and not the best one, Hm mabe wallstreet has somthing to do with that? Do you want the man trying to profit of you calling the shoots with your health, or someone how is trying to truly help? The choise is yours, Jest really due your research and not jest the word of a politican or a Investor, You will see how much smothly Europen system works than ours. I have and I am convinced Insurnce companys should become a thing of the past.

Melissa Sue Robinson Nampa Mayoral Candidate Answers Your Questions

Occupation: Credit Consultant Consumer Financial Services, Qwest Communications Corp.

Please tell us about your family: One Son Charles 39 Years, five brothers, two sisters and my Beagle Buster

How long have you lived in the city limits? Since March 2009

What other elected positions have you held or run for? Michigan House of Representatives,Michigan State Senate,Mayor of Lansing, MI. Lansing City Council at Large, Highline School District (Desmoines Washington) and Precinct Delegate Republican Party.

Have you served in the military? No

Have you ever filed for bankruptcy? Yes during Michigan's severe economic downturn from 2001-2005 things became very tough, they closed our office at Michigan Bell and I filed to save my home.

Have you been convicted of any misdemeanor or felony charges? If so, please provide information about them. Traffic citations are not applicable. NO

Are your local taxes paid up? If not, what do you owe and why haven't they been paid? I don't owe any taxes

What are your greatest accomplishments? I founded and owned a 25 employee construction company in Michigan for ten years, I received my degree from Michigan State University within 3.5 years at age 44 and maintained a high GPA. I also helped out in two Presidential campaigns, one for George H.W. Bush in 1992.

What organizations do you belong to? CWA Local

Are you involved in any community causes or activities? If so, what are they and why are you involved? Yes. I founded an organization called The Idaho Coalition on Good Transportation and Clean Air in Aug. 2009. The purpose of this organization is to build a light rail system in the valley or bus lanes from Caldwell to Boise along I-84. I am involved because of the severe traffic congestion on I-84 and the valley's poor air quality.

Why should you be elected? Because I am a progressive, hard worker that loves people, loves Nampa, and I will work very hard to see that all of Nampa Citizens have a voice in city government. I will help take Nampa from good to great, eliminate as much of the gang and drug problem as humanly possible, and make Nampa even more of a great place to raise your families.

What are the first five things you would do if you are elected? Work to change city government by having six council members e.g. four in districts North, South,East, and West Nampa, and two at large for the whole city. Council and other city meetings and events would be televised both on Cable One and online. I would strive with my utmost energy to bring jobs to Nampa by proper marketing as this city has a lot to sell to potential employers. Idaho and Nampa not only has good hard workers and good weather, but it also has some of the lowest business taxes, and business friendly laws in the nation. As mayor I will sell that fact and close the deal to as many large good paying corporations and businesses that I can. I would fight for either light rail or bus lanes on I-84 and last I would organize "The Nampa Promise" a scholarship different from The Idaho Promise w hich would pay for the first two years of college for any student graduating with a 2.0 GPA from any Nampa High School public or private within the Nampa City Limits. The promise would be funded by donations and grants.

What are the weaknesses of your opponent(s)? Two of my opponents do not have any political experience or experience beyond the restaurant industry. I know how the city works, I know how to hire and maintain good city managers or at least be a major player in the hiring process. I would be able to hit the ground running in the mayor's office. The present mayor, while a good person does not believe in proper representation pertaining to you. He doesn't think that you need to be informed e.g. thinks that the four at large council members are enough and city meetings should not be televised according to an email that he sent me. He doesn't answer citizens emails very often and his government is not very open door like mine would be. He has been in there for eight years and I would be a strong fresh change for Nampa. Having balanced budgets in my construction company (even though Nampa' s budget is much larger) I would be a good leader pertaining to that, because the principle is the same, and I did it successfully for many years.

What is the biggest issue in this race and why? The biggest issue is in bringing jobs to Nampa and Canyon County we have the highest unemployment rate and one of the highest foreclosure rates in all of Idaho.

What is your vision for Nampa 10 years in the future? Ten years from now when Idahoans think of there greatest cities Nampa will stand side by side with Boise. Nampa Citizens would no longer drive to Boise for employment, and Nampa will have it's own Zoo. The drug and gang problem will no longer be a problem as I would do everything within my power to strengthen the Police Dept. and create more programs for our young. We would strengthen values education in our schools.

What actions should be taken to best position Nampa for growth as the economy recovers? We need to revamp our city ordinances pertaining to business and have a task force with top business leaders that will develop a business plan for Nampa job creation.

Please name the organizations or groups that have endorsed you so far in this election: None

Please list any conflicts of interests (or potential problems) you face if elected? None

Should the city revisit its policy regarding vicious animals? If so, what changes do you feel are needed? The present policy suits Nampa as it protects our citizens.

Would you support lifting the ban on Sunday liquor by-the-drink sales? Yes because that ban is not business friendly and it would not raise the drunk driving arrests or crime rate if it was lifted.

What place should roundabouts have in local transportation planning? Very Little.

Are there any intersections you feel would be good candidates for roundabouts? None they tried that in Lansing, MI and they hindered instead of helped traffic problems.

\Are roundabouts a viable option for this community? No they are a waste of money.

What is the proper role of the city's urban renewal agency? Its sole purpose is to create revenue for continued growth in Nampa and it should not be eliminated, however the public should have more input on when and where an urban renewal district is created instead of giving every developer that wants a project their way without public approval. Bonds should only be issued with public approval.

Does the make-up of the urban renewal board need to be changed? If so, how? The board should not include the Mayor and it should be more diverse i.e. more of Nampa's business people and other citizens should be on that board.

How would you rate the city's efforts to revitalize the downtown area? In cosmetic revitalization Nampa is doing a good job, but in business revitalization Nampa is doing a poor job. In these tough times we need to give businesses every break that we can afford.

What is your position on plans for a new library and public safety
building? As mayor I would be for these project when the economy improves.

Should the Nampa City Council be expanded to five or six council members instead of just four? You be it should and my answer is noted above. It should be expanded to six e.g. four in districts and two at large.

What steps can or should be taken to make city government more transparent and open to the public? All city meetings should be televised, Nampa Police, Nampa Fire Dept, and Nampa Parks and Recreation should have occasional cable and online TV programs and Nampa officials should be out in the public more often

What should the city's role be in improving the Treasure Valley air shed? Explain your answer. I think that Nampa should take the lead in this vital area by imposing anti pollution laws and mandatory vehicle emission testing at least every two years. I think that we should take this seriously and give all cities that are members of the air shed management program our utmost cooperation and time. The reason for my answer is in the bowl (mountains forming a bowl) that the valley sits in which traps pollution thus causing major health problems.

Is there anything else you'd like to comment on? Citizens I want you to know that my only, and I repeat only agenda is Nampa and its citizens. I am a Christian and would work to help our various religious organizations in any way that I can, however that includes helping all citizens whether they are Christian or not feel at home in Nampa providing that they don't break any of our laws. I would strive to support education in Nampa with all of my energy as a well educated population helps bring employers to our city. Vote for me, Melissa Sue Robinson, and I promise that I will make you glad you did in everything that I doo pertaining to Nampa.

Maryanne Jordan, a candidate for Boise City Council, supports the 65 million dollar "Bridge to Nowhere", the streetcar system that will prove to be a boondogle & a drain on Boise taxpayers.

Salt Lake City has an excellent light rail system (left over from the Olympics) but it requires heavy subsidies from the city to keep it afloat. Boise's "Bridge to Nowhere" will insure more torn up roads & higher taxes for Boise residents. If this is what you want, then vote for Maryanne Jordan.

I want to see a Boise Bus system that runs to 7 p.m. during the week with more buses & more bus routes. I want more bicycle paths and safer paths for bikers. More than anything else, I want a councilman who listens to the voters.

That is why I am voting for Lucas for City Council next Tuesday & I hope you will too.
Best wishes,

On Friday September 25, 2009 Glenn Beck had a special entitled “The Mother’s Challenge: A 9.12 Project.” During the final thoughts section Dr. Frank I. Luntz said, “If you begin everything with ‘as a mom…‘ You win.” That thought, and a brilliant comment by Nancy, during a discussion of the feeling of being alone, referring to her friends calling themselves “Sisterhood of the mommy patriots,” were the inspirations for starting this site.

The purpose of this group is to give a forum for moms of all types to come together to discuss and resolve issues. Through the centuries women a have bonded together to teach and mentor one another. In the spirit of those foremothers let us now come together. Many of you have questions, some of you have answers. Some of you may know what textbooks teach a good history of our nation. Others can mentor a first time school board candidate...

In addition to the 9 values we add this one: Children are a gift from God and a sacred responsibility

If you can begin your statement or question with “As a mom…” then it belongs here. (No you don’t need to begin the statement that way.) All we ask is that we treat one another possible differing views with the same respect that we teach our children to use.

You are not alone. As A Mom...We Win.

Network of principled mothers, grandmothers, daughters, & guardians of our nation's children dedicated to the 9 Principles & 12 Values.
9/12 Project:The Nine Principles
1. America is good.
2. I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life.
3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday.
4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government.
5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it.
6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results.
7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable.
8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion.
9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me

+Join "As a Mom...A Sisterhood of Mommy Patriots, NOW! We have grown to a membership of over 40,000 Patriotic "Moms" in less than two weeks!

I must say that if people are threatened by this they are pretty week, i dunno if i always agree with glenn but this shit sounds pretty common sense. I bet a liberal will tell me i am wrong........please tell me right is wrong dude... c'mon ... you gave shit to a mom that posted this... and you gave her shit.... thats bad dude... moms are moms... this shit is good shit ... whether you agree or not...dont be jealous of what couldve been

If George W. Bush's administration had okayed Air Force One flying low over millions of people followed by a jet fighter in downtown Manhattan causing widespread panic, would you have wondered whether they actually get what happened on 9-11?

If George W. Bush had failed to send relief aid to flood victims throughout the Midwest with more people killed or made homeless than in New Orleans, would you want it made into a major ongoing political issue with claims of racism and incompetence?

If George W. Bush had ordered the firing of the CEO of a major corporation, even though he had no constitutional authority to do so, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had proposed to double the national debt, which had taken more than two centuries to accumulate, in one year, would you have approved?

If George W. Bush had then proposed to double the debt again within 10 years, would you have approved?

So, tell me again, what is it about Obama that makes him so brilliant and impressive? Can't think of anything? Don't worry. He's done all this in 8 months -- so you'll have three years and four months to come up with an answer.

How's that "hope and change" working out ?
Thank God this valley has some intelligence after all. Health care in this country is circling the drain, needs some sort of reform and certainly does not benefit from lies or spreading fear. If you're afraid of change, just imagine (if you have the capacity of mind to do so) what doing nothing would be like. Just tell me what the republican party has to offer for change that they agree must occur and don't tell me it's tort reform. Anyone who believes that capping malpractice settlements alone will bring down costs enough is either ignorant or simply too stupid to understand the complexities of such an important issue.

I just read up on Melissa Sue Robinson and I have to say she sounds like a decent person but I also don't see why any of us should be voting for her either. I do not intend to sway voters and would only like to share my perspective. I believe a candidate should be true to their beliefs and choose their party based on those beliefs. A candidate that changes parties based on location (i.e. swearing loyalty to the republican party only because you live in a red state), seems rather lukewarm and ready to sell out to whomever for a vote. I could have had more respect for her if she hadn't pulled an Arlen Specter. Does she have democratic beliefs and values or is she a republican, or is she just whatever she thinks she needs to be to get your vote? Has she ever considered the fact that Walt Minnick was elected to congress as a democrat? I hope her party change wasn't inspired by cable TVs Fox News, because honestly there are more decent republicans out there than Glen Beck or Sean Hannity. It would have taken real courage to stick to her guns and run as a democrat in a republican district. I have been registered as a republican but lately the party seems to have lost their conviction. Many have been caught spreading untruths and fear only to work up the uneducated and simple minded. Do they really think Americans are that stupid that we can't fact check? Maybe they're right, maybe Americans have developed a limited vocabulary and an inability to think for themselves. Well that's just my opinion about Melissa Sue Robinson, sorry if I've offended anyone. Good luck Melissa I'm sure you'll have the knuckle dragging, drooling, unsophisticated voters support.

NAMPA'S VERY HIGH CRIME RATE
Citizens at The candidate forum hosted by The Idaho Press Tribune at Nampa City Hall on Monday Oct. 12th. we were allowed to ask another candidate a question. I chose Mayor Tom Dale. I asked him what he was going to do about Nampa's high crime rate and he said crime was down in Nampa and his police officers were keeping it under control. He offered no other answer. If crime is down then why do we keep reading stories titles like this in our local news: Nampa, ID--Nampa police are still looking for the man who robbed a bank. Note minor crimes are down a little. Major crimes are up!

Nampa credit union robbed at gunpoint

Officers say around 2pm Tuesday a man demanded cash from a teller.

It happened at the Valley Credit Union on Mcclure street. Call Crimestoppers at 343-cops if you have any information.

Folks I was going to keep this campaign clean, but when you have this kind of crime, racial profiling on the police force, and a Mayor who say's crime is down and nothing more needs to be done, I say vote for me and I'll set you free. Free from the Nampa crime wave. I'll do this by adding undercover officers, more hispanic officers (to level the playing field), a more visible police presence, and officer visits in the schools more often to educate our young against gangs and drugs. Its time to take our streets and neighborhoods back.
Don't forget to view today's Sat Oct. 17th Mayoral Race Add on page 3 of The Idaho Press Tribune as it tells the truth about Nampa's violent crime rate. Vote for the incumbent Mayor....get more of the same. Vote for me, Melissa Sue Robinson, and I'll help significatenly lower this crime rate. I have criminal justice training from Michigan e.g. Jan. 1998 to Nov. 2000 Lieutenant/ Shift Supervisor General Motors Plant Protection. We were the GM Police and only used outside agencies when you needed a weapon. We were trained in investigation, workplace violence diffusion, incident command, firefighting, hazardous materials,CPR,First Aid, and had to help in drug busts. In 2000 we assisted police agencies in a drug bust. This involved 10 people including 2 GM supervisors who were drug pushing in GM's Body Plant. I also helped conduct the initial investigation. I am the only candidate with that training.

ELECT MELISSA SUE ROBINSON
FOR MAYOR OF NAMPA "2009"
MELISSA SUE ROBINSON -YOUR CHOICE IN NOVEMBER 09 FOR MAYOR.

FOR PROGRESS, FOR RENEWAL,

FOR REVITALIZATION, FOR NAMPA,

MOST OF ALL FOR YOU IN THE TWENTY FIRST CENTURY!!!

Dear Citizens of Nampa, My name is Melissa Sue Robinson, and I hereby announce that I am running for Nampa's a city that needs progressive people in city government. With many years of political and business experience, my desire is to give back to society by bringing that experience to you. I'm a 58 year old former owner of Design Masters Construction Co, Inc., (a 25 employee small business formerly based in Michigan), which I was President for 10 years. At age 41 I pursued my Bachelor of Arts degree in humanities from Michigan State University and achieved that with a high GPA within 3.5 years by taking 4-5 classes per semester. This major was interdisciplinary i.e. English, history, psychology, and religion. I then attended graduate school of management at Aquinas College (Grand Rapids, MI.). Nampa is growing and it's demographics are becoming very diverse. I am very well rounded and can hit the ground running. Most of all with my successful business experience, I can help bring new employers to our city, as I know what employers want and how they think. I can achieve my goals with the aid of talented people that I would bring on board. I would bring on board "The Best of The Best" in all crucial management areas such as finance, planning, human services, and human resources. This does not mean that I would go on a major replacement campaign when elected. If managers when evaluated have shown that they are "the best of the best for Nampa" they would remain. Most of all I believe in God, Nampa and it's Citizens. What you think and want matters to me, therefore Nampa government would be an "open door government" with citizen input being at the forefront. Council meetings would be for everyone that cares about Nampa and would be televised. I would push for six council members instead of the present four at large members. Four would be in districts in every direction, and two would be at large. That's proper representation!
A Note to Present Mayoral Candidates

Mayoral races tend to bring City issues to the forefront. I just wish that Nampa had City-TV with Cable One in order to get more citizens interested in City government. Nampa is large enough for that and will continue to grow. Council and committee meetings should be televised. Planning a city should be a community team effort and should involve as many citizens as possible. After the race I hope that we can work together in some capacity for the good of Nampa (as I plan on making this my home for the balance of my life). Again good luck in the mayoral race.
With Regards,
Melissa Sue Robinson
Urban Renewal and Urban Renewal Districts

When elected as your Mayor. I will insure that urban renewal districts are approved by citizens

by holding special elections for that approval. Citizens will be informed of all plans including any

tax increases pertaining to such districts via city public television, The Idaho Press-Tribune,

public meetings convenient for all that desire to attend, etc. Urban renewal boards will

by a new city ordinance promoted by me, be balanced i.e. will have an equal amount of non-elected

citizens as members if not they will not be in existence until they have that balance. Keep in mind that urban renewal bonds do not cause tax increases, they only cause differences in the way that taxes are distributed in that particular district, but I think that more citizens should be involved. When times are good getting money for projects that would benefit Nampa would be tough without those bonds.
BOISE — Four shoppers plotted an attack against a 24-year-old man they encountered in the aisles of a Nampa Wal-Mart, then followed him to the parking lot and beat him — all because the man is black, a federal prosecutor told a jury Thursday.
Be assured that under a Robinson administration in Nampa, not only will these offenders who commit hate crimes be tried under federal laws, but they will be arrested first under Nampa's tough anti-discrimination, racial profiling, and hate crimes ordinance that I am determined we will enact. I am tired of Idaho and Nampa wrongly being thought as a place that practices discrimination and intolerance. These acts are only committed by the few. They must to be stopped NOW!
Nampa's present Mayor wants to build a new library now. As your candidate for mayor, while I favor a new library in Nampa, that has to remain on hold in the current economic climate. In the midst of severe economic recession and job losses, our priority must be to use the millions of dollars it would cost to build a new library to generate a thousand or more jobs, rather than creating 10 library jobs. When elected as your Mayor, I promise to push for jobs, jobs, jobs now, and a new library (just like the one planned) when the economy gets better.
Municipalities Consolidating Services

As a Nampa mayoral candidate I realize there are benefits of communities working together through partnerships, mutual aid agreements, and consolidated services. Regional initiatives save money and streamline services at a time when revenue is declining for most local governments. Government units working together are essential in preserving vital services and promoting Nampa as an attractive target for new businesses. Therefore as Mayor my office would do everything possible to insure that service consolidation happens.
More Proposals When I'm Elected as your Mayor

1. a more visible Police Department

2. an education plan with more City Hall partnerships and cooperation with the schools

3. youth programs and community service programs

A more visible Police Department shouldn't require more money. I'd also like to pay more attention to Nampa's schools. My education plan includes a liaison with grant-writing abilities and close ties to "community service centers" run by volunteers eager to work with youth. To attract families with kids, which is where the real numbers are, we've got to focus on our schools.

Folks, I am a local person from humble beginnings who would expand the city's tax base through new business growth and short-term tax abatements for small businesses, expansion of existing businesses and creation of good-paying jobs.
Pertaining to Nampa's Young People

I want Nampa to become another Austin, Texas, or Gainesville, Florida, which are university towns that have gained some renown by successfully mining their artistic and cultural resources while listening to our young adults.

My other priorities are public safety, jobs, transportation, especially a light rail system (or BRT), neighborhoods and quality of life. Please go to the proposals page and read "The Nampa Promise".

When elected I will push for a resolution that requires the city to keep updated and detailed records of city revenues, expenditures, leases, grants and contracts on the Nampa city website identical to the resolution and practices that Eagle just passed and undertook. Unlike Eagle's site the Nampa website will not lack searchable and database features, but will be easy to search and will contain all pertinent information.

When elected as your Mayor, I promise to partner with Boise and other surrounding communities in order to push for light rail service or Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) from Caldwell to Boise. Traffic on I-84 (even when there's no construction) is frustrating to all. Those that drive into Boise for work, lose way to much time off from their personal lives waiting in heavy traffic, accidents rates are too high, and we are polluting our air. We needed a lite rail or BRT system yesterday, and I will fight hard for that until we get one or the other.
Dear Citizens of Nampa, Neighbors, and Friends:

As candidate for Mayor in the 2009 general election I would like to clarify my resolve to gain your vote for that

esteemed office. Having been in business most of my life, I know many people through my remodeling and

construction company. Others befriended me during my education at Pattengill, Eastern High, LCC, and

Michigan State all in Michigan. My company repaired and altered the appearance of many homes.. In so doing,

many times the market value of the home was helped as well.

Owning that business, I became disciplined in management, successfully for ten years, overseeing up to twenty-five employees at a time. My responsibilities included interviewing, hiring, and managing employees. Then came purchasing, payroll, general ledger, accounts payable and receivables. I also handled advertising, and sales. These duties require diligence, hard work, and an eye for detail. It is not a nine-to-five job, just as I am not a nine-to-five person. My business was not run by others, it depended on my insight, people skills, willingness to do whatever it took to get the job done, and a stubborn streak that made me forge ahead rather than quit.

We all know representing Nampa is a large responsibility with many problems, people, and politics. That does not

faze me because I am a good judge of character and excel at designating or helping to designate things to the right person. Superior listening and communication skills, combined with perseverance and understanding are required to realistically lead in any City. There is need for positive change here to keep us from stagnation. The human condition is my passion, as my degrees in humanities from Lansing Community College and MSU (Michigan State University) can attest. As yourMayor I want to help lead using past enlightenment and expertise, and give back to my community through public service. My siblings and I learned about hard work at an early age. Our father left us in 1959. I was only nine

then, but have been working every day since.

My brothers and I worked in Michigan, shoveling walks, raking leaves, mowing lawns, and more to help mother put food on the table. We are a family of eight, and that's a lot of leaves. As for my political qualifications, the majority of it was hands-on experience with clients through my business. There was a time when I helped elect a president as a precinct delegate for Lansing's ward three, and another in 1997 when I ran for city council at large. In 2003 I ran for Mayor and the Lansing School Board, in 2004 State Representative in Michigan’s 68th District. I also helped in two of the Presidential campaigns in 1992 and 2004 and was a Precinct Delegate in the First Ward in Lansing.

As your Mayor I would be present unless an act of God prevented it, to listen to issues you may have pertaining to our great city. The voters needs are crucial for appropriate city government.I also promise to you that I will remain in opposition to unwanted urban renewal districts and will help fight against those that take your tax money away from you.If you want a Mayor dedicated to you, the people, then I am that person. My desire is that you remember me in the upcoming general election when your Mayor is chosen.

Sincerely,

Volunteers wanted in order to get over 56,000 signers for an initiative petition for a light rail or BRT system. You will volunteer for my newly formed non-profit "The Idaho Coalition on Good Transportation and Clean Air". these signatures must be obtained by September 2010 and will be used to get a light rail or BRT initiative on the statewide ballot that brings these services from Caldwell to Boise. Signers must be registered voters. Folks this will save Treasure Valley citizens money on fuel and upkeep for their vehicles, and will save them precious time to and from work. Some funds for this would be throughTransportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) grants and would come from stimulus funds through the U.S. Department of Transportation To volunteer contact Melissa Sue Robinson at (208) 442-3920 or email us at: msuerobinson@msn.com
A New City Market With A Building to House it

I propose when the economy is good again, a $24 million-to-$30 million project which would be a mix of housing, retail and office space in Downtown Nampa. This would be an 1,200-square-foot City Market building on the first floor and would house all of Nampa's market vendors. I personally know a developer that has built similar buildings in other cities, and that's how I arrived at the cost. This would not come from regular tax monies, it would come from developer and bond monies, or it wouldn't be constructed.

Citizens of Nampa, I want you to know that while the Mayoral race is non-partisan, that I am for you. When it comes to business I lean towards the Republican Party ideals and lean towards the Democratic Party on equality issues. It would be fair to say that philosophy not only makes me a middle of the road candidate, it keeps things fair for all of you. While I am a Christian i.e. attended Jackson First Church of the Nazarene while growing up, and Christ Lutheran Church in Lansing, MI. before moving West , if you are of any other faith or have none at all helping you the Citizens of Nampa is first and foremost (although the Lord will help me do that). In 1992 I helped George Bush in the Presidential Debates at Michigan State University when he was running against Bill Clinton and Ross Perot. In 2004 I helped John Kerry by manning booths at county fairs and other events. I'm telling you this because you need to know that I am non-partisan. I ran as a Democrat in Michigan and as a Republican Precinct Delegate. Ronald Reagan and John Kennedy were two of my most favorite Presidents. I promise that as your mayor I will not try to push anything that you do not want. My main agenda will be jobs and transportation in that order. I believe in preserving your freedom, the 2nd amendment, and lower taxes. I will not force high taxes on you, in my administration tax proposals will always be placed on the ballot. When this race gains momentum you'll see that I run a clean campaign. Finding fault with my competitors is not the way to win an election. I will say this: If you want a well rounded mayor in both education and experience,I am that person. My degree was interdisciplinary humanities at Michigan State University and included all religions, political science, history,English, literature, psychology, management, leadership, and art history. In business I dealt with people from all walks in life. Even though I am labeled as transgender I am for women and men equally as I know issues on both sides. I also promise that when elected I will never, I repeat never, do anything to embarrass the office of Nampa mayor or its citizens like some politicians have in other cities and states.I love Nampa and want you to love it as much as I do. Give me your vote, and together we can redevelop City Hall, and make Nampa the successful, friendly, and proud community it deserves! Give me my dream and my chance by electing me and I will use every ounce of my energy to make Nampa shine and be number one in Idaho, that is my sincere promise to you!!!

Vicky that letter to the editor in today's Idaho Press Tribune about me was full of lies and I need to get this follow up letter in as soon as possible or it will hurt my campaign for Mayor. I do not want to send a letter to IPTs parent company in Seattle about this.

Thursday October 15th 2009

Dear Citizens of Nampa,
On Thursday October 15th a Nampa Citizen, Mr. Alan Marsh wrote a letter to the editor in The Idaho Press Tribune that contained falsehoods about me and my candidacy. First he said that I ran as a Democrat for Mayor of Lansing MI. when that race is totally non-partisan. Mr. Marsh failed to inform you that I also was a member of the Republican Party at one time and even helped George H.W. Bush in his campaign in 1992. It is true that I ran as a Democrat for State Rep. in Michigan at one time, however I am not affiliated with any parties as I take a little from both parties in my way of thinking. Mr. Marsh also said that I advocated gay marriage which is totally untrue. As mayor of Nampa I would never try to push an agenda on Nampa citizens that they were against. He also said that the NAATP advocated gay marriage on their website. The NAATP doesn't have a website and was disbanded by me in 2004. There is a group on Yahoo called the NAATP, but I am not one of its officers.
Mr Marsh failed to tell citizens what my real Nampa agenda is. He also failed to alert citizens that I am Pro- Life and have never been for abortions as I think that its murder to have one. Citizens weren't alerted by Mr. Marsh about anything good about me except for my business experience. Did he tell you that I am a Christian? No he didn't. I do not appreciate being painted as a liberal when in truth I am a moderate candidate. I hope when you go to the polls, Mr. Marsh's thoughts are not in that voting booth with you. Thanks for reading my letter of rebutal.
No one is "pushing hard", or even pushing a little bit to adopt the Canadian system, not that that would be a bad thing but it simply isn't happening and you are a liar if you claim it is.
